EGCR’s Legal Fact of the Week: Amateur Sports Act of 1978
On November 8th, 1978, President Carter signed the Amateur Sports Act of 1978 into effect. This act would create an U.S. Olympic Committee along with other items. For example, it would have National Governing Employees for each Olympic sport.
Lastly, the act would also establish legal protection for athletes.
